Creating a Span Off

You can use the Span Off feature within Orbitas Field to "line in" poles. This feature can also be used for a wide variety of applications requiring calculated straight segments of a line, or between locations.

There are 2 methods for utilizing the Span Off feature.

Method I:

Using the map to select your locations.
Click on the ACTIONS icon then the CALCULATIONS icon (wrench and flag)

Click on a Location that you wish to use as your starting point and select SPAN OFF FROM HERE.

Next click on the Location that you wish to use as your ending point and select SPAN OFF TO HERE.

Choose to calculate based on the number of Spans or distance of each Span.

Click on the CALCULATE icon to find your Span value(s).

Adjust if you need to by either the number of Spans or distance of each.

When ready, click on the APPLY icon to apply your Spans based on your inputted values.

Click on 'Span Off Feature" in the top left of the screen to return to the main map screen of your job.

*NOTE* You may need to quickly zoom out then back in to draw in the Span Locations.

Method II:

Using the span off icon and selecting your locations from a list.
Click on the ACTIONS icon then the CALCULATIONS icon (wrench and flag)

Click on the Span Off icon (squared symbol)

Next select your Point 1 (Span Off from)

Now select your Point 2 (Span Off to)

Choose to calculate based on the number of Spans or distance of each Span.

Click on the CALCULATE icon to find your Span value(s).

Adjust if you need to by either the number of Spans or distance of each.

When ready, click on the APPLY icon to apply your Spans based on your inputted values.

Click on 'Span Off Feature" in the top left of the screen to return to the main map screen of your job.
